中新网5月5日电 据美国地质勘探局消息，5月5日14时19分，菲律宾附近区域发生里氏6.1级地震，震源深度17.9千米。

消息称，地震震中距离菲律宾潘丹(Pandan)南南西方向56.2千米左右。
目前尚不清楚地震是否将引发海啸或造成人员伤亡与财产损失。
菲律宾位于环太平洋火山地震带上，属于地震多发国家，地质活动活跃。
